MAJESTIC MOUNT KINABALU
Those with a sense of adventure will want to climb the 4095.2-Metre granite summit, a task of stamina rather than skill, and be rewarded with an awe-inspiring view of the sun rising over Borneo.
This fiercely majestic mountain known to the kadazandusun as Aki Nabalu or Revered Ancestor is the crowning glory of kinabalu park. Home of some of the richest assemblies of plants in the world as well as a wonderfully varied birdlife, the park became Malaysia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
THE RAINFORESTS, WETLANDS
Primate living in the wetlands is the Proboscis Monkey, an unforgettable sight with its huge dangling nose and pot belly. Groups of these primates, found only in Borneo, can be seen along the Kinabatangan River and in the Klias Wetlands, less than 2 hours from Kota Kinabalu
ISLANDS OF DELIGHT
Find your own paradise of white sandy beaches backed by shady trees, then go snorkelling over coral reefs, ride a banana boat, water-ski. Sandy beaches are strung along Sabah's west coast. Just 10 Minutes or so from downtown Kota Kinabalu, take a stroll along the popular Tanjung Aru Beach to see the sun setting into the South China Sea in a blaze of glory.
KOTA KINABALU CITY MOSQUE
Seeming to float within its large moat overlooking in Sabah and is inspired by the design of the Nabawi Mosque in Medina. Build in 1997, this imposing mosque can accommodate up to 12,000 during prayers.
